    The state of Ohio has a large and diverse system of higher education. This system is coordinated by the Ohio Board of Regents (OBOR), located in Columbus, Ohio. The more than 130 institutions of higher education in the state are distributed as follows:

    According to OBOR, Ohio's public colleges and universities enrolled approximately 424,000 students in the fall of 1994. In the same period, idependent colleges and universities enrolled over 109,000 additional students.
