Applied Programming Languages

Welcome to the CSET 4250 home page. This course will help you to better understand the various design approaches used to develop modern programming languages and how those approaches affect the suitability of a particular language to a specific task.

Modern and historical programming languages will be used in this course to illustrate their design characteristics. Simple programs will be written in each language.

To be successful in this course, you should have an understanding of and experience with several programming languages. As a minimum, you need to know something about BASIC, C and C++. An introduction to additional languagues such as FORTRAN, Pascal, Ada, Smalltalk, LISP and ML is included as part of the course.

Do this immediately! Your first assignment is to send your instructor and the graduate assistant for this course a message from your preferred email account. Send a message to Chitra Mathukumalli  indicating that you are enrolled in this class and identify your preferred email address.
