A mailing list is nothing more than a group of people who exchange email messages about a subject that
is of interest to them. For example, we might create a mailing list called SMITH-L that is made up of a
group of people who are researching the name SMITH, sharing information, giving each other advice, and answering each other's questions.
That is all there is to it! If you join a mailing list about a specific genealogical subject, you will
start getting lots of email on that subject, and you will meet the other people subscribed to the list.
