CSET 3200
Client-Server Computing

This three-credit course covers client-server architectures and programming techniques. Major topics include two and three-tier client server architectures, programming considerations, clean layering, advanced graphical user interface controls, database processing, transaction processing and monitoring.

In some ways, this is a course in learning a new language ... the language of client-server computing. You will learn a large number of technical terms, abbreviations, acronyms, and jargon terms related to client-server computing, their meanings and significance. Knowing this new language should enable you to understand the technical literature and to converse with professionals. Knowing the meanings and significance of these terms and the concepts that they represent will enable you to understand and design state-of-the-technology client-server systems.

There is no formal, closed laboratory component for this course. However, you will be expected to complete some assignments which require you to access the Internet and/or write simple client-server programs using Visual BASIC, C++ or other appropriate language.
