COURSE DESCRIPTION:

CSET:4150 Web Server Administration. [3 semester credit hours (3-0-0)].
This 3-credit course covers installation and configuration of the web server operating system (e.g., UNIX, Windows NT), installation and administration of the web daemon (e.g., Apache, Microsoft IIS). Site management, including file and directory hierarchy, web log analysis, installation and configuration of various utilities for gopher, ftp, text editing and email.

GRADING ELEMENTS:

Midterm Exams = 25%    A = 90%-100%
Final Project = 30%    B = 80%- 89%
Assignments = 30%    C = 70%- 79%
Progress Reports =   5%    D = 60%- 69%
Chat Sessions = 10%    F = Below 60%

COURSE REQUIREMENTS AND NOTES:

  1. ALL assignments are to be completed ON TIME and appropriately labeled. Late assignments will NOT be accepted for any reason.
  2. You will be responsible for all material covered in class (i.e., web site, assigned readings, discussions)
  3. No make-up exams will be given unless prior notification is provided to the instructor and permission is obtained. Make-up exams will be given only in the case of unusual or extenuating circumstances.
  4. ALL final grades are calculated based on completed course work.
  5. No instructor withdrawals (IWs) will be given at the end of the semester.
