ENGT 3010
Applied Statistics and DOE

Welcome to the ENGT 3010 Appled Statistics and Design of Experiments home page. This course will help you to better understand the subjects of probablility and statistics and their applications to the practice of engineering.

As engineers, we are accustomed to describing things in a quantitative manner; that is, with numbers. What we often fail to keep in mind is the necessity to intrepret those numbers in a meaningful context with regard to the problem at hand. An understanding of statistics will facilitate that interpretation.

Statistics has become increasingly important with the recent empahasis on quality control. It is equally important in understanding collected data, analyzing test results, defining tolerances, and designing experiments. In addition to acquiring the skills necessary for these tasks, this course will provide an introduction to MINITAB, a software package that facilitates the handling and display of data and the calculation of statistical information.
