COURSE : [4 semester credit hours (4-0-0)]. COURSE PREREQUISITE: Advanced Digital Circuits (EET 3350)COURSE DESCRIPTION: Programmable Logic Devices including FPGAs, PALs and PLAs. The course will cover FPGA technology in depth with emphasis on application.Various Programming technologies including SRAM and antifuse technologies will be discussed. Study of typical SRAM based FPGA architecture including configurable logic blocks, interconencts and I/O peripherals. Study of various commercially available FPGAs including Xilinx, Altera, Actel and Lucent. Mapping of design problems on SRAM based FPGAs using commercial design tools.
GRADING ELEMENTS:
COURSE REQUIREMENTS AND NOTES: To avoid a failing grade (F), your overall average must be greater than 58% and your average for all tests and final exam must be greater than 55%. Any changes, additions or deletions, concerning this syllabus will be communicated during regularly scheduled class periods.
No instructor drops (IW) will be given at the end of the semester.
